Meet Your Professor: Professor Diez González

This is the first in a series of posts that will allow you to meet the faculty, staff and current students in CFANS. Today you will meet one of our food science professors, Dr. Francisco Diez González.

Job title: Associate Professor

What are your areas of interest?
Food safety, food microbiology, foodborne pathogens, organic foods, safety of fresh vegetables, pathogenic bacteria associated with dairy foods, and food defense.

What classes do you teach?
FScN 1102 - Food: Safety, Risks, and Technology
FScN 4121 - Food Microbiology

How long have you worked for CFANS?
11 years

Why did you choose to work at the U of M?
Because of the opportunity to pursue a scientific career in an academic setting in one of the best food science departments in the world.

Any words of advice for prospective students?
Pursue those interests that you feel most passionate about.

Learning is a lot of fun! Don't ever stop learning.
